yeah we learned all about saving, probably the hard way

I think in this particular case the mistake I had made in my actions was so
early in the game, that when we realized the mistake many, many days later,
going back to such an old saved game was either not available anymore or
tantamount to basically playing everything all over again anyway

interestingly enough it only took us a half hour to replay the entire game
from scratch, since we knew already exactly where to go and what to do........

but the phrase "mom, you idiot" still rings loudly in my head....... even
so many years later........ very humbling when it turns out your 5 and 8
year old sons are right and you totally messed up the game days earlier
with a seemingly innocent maneuver

I'm sure if I ask my sons when they had cause to voice "mom, you
idiot"..... said with a particular tone of voice of course......... they
would both have no problem pointing back to that fateful day 14 years ago

so now they're 19 and 22..... so perhaps they no longer think their mom is
an idiot :)

those games were pivotal times in our life.......... I have absolutely the
best memories of sitting with 2 little boys plugging away at the King's
Quest series............. they later went on to play the other series
mostly without me.... although they did call me over to point anything
really funny or really cool....... we did laugh a lot with Space Quest.

I got my money's worth and then some out of those games....... I wonder if
the stuff developed for today's kids is as solidly entertaining and
stimulating......... sure, the new stuff must have drop-dead
graphics....... but you still gotta have a great story! That was really
Roberta's strength.
