Actually, I disdain anyone but Sir Sean Connery as 007.

But I will take Timothy Dalton waaaaaay before Pierce Brosnan, who besides
his other faults probably has Ian Fleming spinning in his grave, since he's
Irish not Scots.  I think Dalton came closer to the way Fleming wrote the
character in his books than anyone besides Connery.

You might not be aware of this, but when Connery first quit as 007, Dalton
was offered the role.  Dalton declined, saying he felt it would be
presumptuous to step into Connery's shoes at the tender age of 28 (I think).
Fourteen years later, they again offered it to Dalton.

And I'm not overly fond of Roger Moore, who had the 70's "smirk" instead of
the rather cold, sardonic streak Fleming wrote and Connery portrayed so well
- IMHO of course.
