Judith,

I'm glad you said "seemed to kill off" since miraculously 007 always
prevailed in the end...

I now have the entire collection of films on DVD -- which come with all
kinds of documentary extras.

Amazing how several of the films' plots have absolutely nothing to do with
the book of the same name -- prime example being "The Spy Who Loved Me".
How do you get from a motel in upstate New York to a sub-eating supertanker?

Bit of trivia: "Goldeneye" was the name of Fleming's vacation home in
Jamaica.

When I was 13, they had the Aston-Martin from "Goldfinger" on tour
publicizing the premiere of the movie. My best friend's father was a
manager at the SF British Motors dealership. We actually got to sit in the
car, and an explanation of which of the gadgets worked and which were
special effects. Never forgot that experience. (BTW that Aston-Martin was
one of the factory prototypes for the model, and by the time of the movie it
had something like 140,000 miles on it as I recall.)

I don't have a "crush" on Connery -- "hero worship" is more like it... <big
grin>

Ben

Growing up, my mother took us all to see each and every James Bond film
that came out....she had the entire collection of Ian Fleming's 007
series.... The major difference, which she had no trouble with overcoming
was that in the books Fleming always seemed to kill off Agent 007....

As a young girl, I had a crush on Sean Connery. He's still "The" James Bond
for me.

Braver, Ben put into words:
>All the talk about mangoes reminds me of the song with the lyrics
>"Underneath the mango tree, ma honey and me..."
>I remember it from the first 007 film Dr. No in 1962.
>
>So, we've had threads with fans of sci-fi books and movies, British humor
>flicks, etc.
>Any Ian Fleming / 007 fans out there?
