Well, let's see. The amount of lead in the air U.S. citizens breath is
about half what it was in the 1970s. All other pollutants in the air and
water have also been greatly reduced.

As has been pointed out, we have more wooded area than 65 years ago.

I would say the U.S. is doing its "fair share." Above and Beyond.

I remember in elementary school, we had a teacher who brought in movies
about pollution. The dire predictions where that by the time I was 40, the
planet would be dead and we'd all be living in bubble cities. Well, I turned
40 last week and there isn't a glass roof over my head.

More than half of the world's scientists say there is no irrefutable
evidence to support the theory of "Global Warming." In fact, 17,000
scientists signed a statement calling the theory of "Global Warming" a sham.

The temperature changes of the last 100 years, when compared to world
history, are really too small of a change to draw any tangible conclusion
from. Global temperature fluctuations are a normal part of the evolution of
the planet. There is just no way to know if any changes over the last 50 or
100 hundred years are the result of anything people have done.

In the last 30 years, the U.S. average temperature has risen a half a
degree. If there is global warming, its greatest impact has been in places
like Siberia, where temperatures have risen 2 degrees.

Is it really worth $400 billion to raise the temperature in Siberia by 2
degrees?

On the other hand, some amount of spending along "ecological" lines will be
good for the economy (an idea first championed by Bill Clinton). So I don't
object to creating jobs through environmentalism. There is no doubt that we
should be good shepherd's of God's creation. However, we need to do it in
the name of good science, not bad science, so that the money is properly
spent.

But do you want to know the fastest way to get turn us into an "alternative
energy" nation? Let the oil companies drill as fast as they can, as much as
they can where ever there is oil. The faster they deplete the oil reserves,
the sooner they will turn their massive monetary resources toward developing
alternative energy sources (so they can protect their profits).

We need to clean the planet, well at least stop polluting it, and the USA
will have to pay it's fair share along with everyone else. How much that is
I don't know, I assume the reason the Kyoto treaty wasn't signed by the USA,
is that they disagree with the assessment of their 'share'.
