people are dead because of that?
Also that number looks like its from IraqBodyCount.com
Their totals include things like car bombing performed by the foreign
fighters and terror groups that are currently operating out of Iraq.
These numbers also include items like car accidents where a woman hit a US
Military vehicle, a non-combat accident that could just have easily happened
if we or weren't there. So by these numbers, other items included are
suicide bombings of pilgrims to Shi'ite shrines, if these pilgrimages had
been done under Saddam then they would have all been killed as what they
were doing was illegal under Saddam.
I just don't see how you can blame these deaths on the US military, sure if
we weren't there terrorists would be trying to kill us, if they country
wasn't in the process of forming a democratic government, then terrorists
wouldn't be trying to kill the interim leaders, if the country were back to
it old dictatorship where things like satellite TV were illegal and
punishable by torture, then sure, maybe people wouldn't be getting killed.
I'm sorry, those numbers don't mean anything to me, they are a spin on the
facts.
_____
There are lots of reasons to remove lots of leaders. The case against
Saddam, when WMD and 9/11 fall flat, are that he was a bad man who
killed his own people. Saddam is reported to have killed about 300,000
in the span of 30 years. That works out to 10,000 a year. We've killed
between 11,143 and 13,096 civilians. If Saddam was bad, then what are
we?
I'm not saying that Saddam was justified in his actions. I'm saying
that we're not justifying ours.
