avoid more deaths but this is the basis of triage in medecine, for
example... it's cold but it may be true. I am (very reluctantly) in
favor of a war that advances the national security of the country.
Afghanistan would seem to meet this criteria. Iraq at the moment seems
to not.
By the way I found this article in my local weekly while I was eating
breakfast just now. Oops, I guess it isn't on the website yet; the
paper just came out this morning. But check www.alibi.com later today
for a very interesting interview with a local lieutenant colonel who
just got back from Iraq after 15 years in the army.

Let me stipulate, I'm not evil, and by saying this I don't think that any
individual life is less valuable than any other.
Only that until all people can live in peace, people are going to die
needless deaths, it happens everyday, and will continue to happen until the
minds of the people can be changed to believe that we shouldn't kill or
commit crimes in general.
Passing useless laws or resolutions or placing sanctions on the people we
disagree with doesn't help the cause. Only with action can we remove those
who seek to carry out the evil acts, and only when those people are out of
power can the world come together and live in peace.

There is a big difference between 5k and 13k
But the justification, comes in terms of the number of lives saved in the
future. If we base everything we ever do solely on current perceptions or
current numbers, how can we ever affect the course of the human race?
If we take a few lives now, how many can we save in the
future?________________________________
