Though if you think about it you were engaging in stereotypes weren't
you? By a lot of standards (especially Canadian standards lol) I am
not really Canadian at this point nor is it exactly true that
Canadians dislike Americans. Not in general anyway. It might be closer
to the truth to say that Canada (the country) perceives the US (the
country) as a sibling it must share a room with who insists on hogging
the covers and frequently wets the bed. But a sibling who has some
cool ideas and whom it kind of likes anyway.
The offensive statement you mention... this would be suggesting that
the Bush administration might not want to draw further attention to
the fact that it has not found bin Laden as it promised to do? Or
suggesting it on July 4th? Or suggesting it while a foreigner, sort of
like DWB? Hmmm?
To get back to the question I asked you just now... how are you
reading "Middle East" into this when the subject of the sentence is
"Iraq" and the sentence does not contain the term "Middle East" ?
However I really wasn't looking to deconstruct Cheney's statement,
just looking for confirmation that he made it. I personally think he
is always as deceptive as possible about everything possible whenever
possible, just to keep in practice.
By the way, I was mostly amused by the term "liberal" as applied to
Tim, but it is not really contained in my view of myself either. I can
see how someone who listens to Rush Limbaugh might disagree with that
though :)

I'm sorry I offended you. I've been reading how much
Canadians dislike Americans and figured you were
trying to bring us down a notch while we were
celebrating. I just figured it was just the wrong day
for that baseless and offensive charge.
> ok, I know I will regret this, but... How????
By adding: "If we're successful in Iraq, we will have
struck a major blow right at the heart of the base, if
you will,"
It reads that a democracy in Iraq will strike a blow
to the geographical heart of Islamic terrorism. That
is the Middle East.
Your version reads like he saying:
"Iraq is the geographic base of the terrorists who had
us under assault now for
many years, but most especially on 9-11."
Sounds like he's addressing only Iraq not the Middle
East as a whole.
