Matt,

I was trying to pick some Baseball basic books at Barnes and Noble bookstore, it has one called Baseball for Dummies, I don't think it's the right book for me.  My goal here is, to be able to understand how the game is played so as to enjoy watching it and possibly for discourse.
So, now I kind of expect the basics like this:
*) the structure of field (game) per url,

Then along this line, could you explain each team's goal,
defending team is consisted of X members, each one's function ..., and in relation to base (1,2,3) ...
offending team is consisted of X members, each ...
