My guess - tho' it's only that - is that they're tool fronts either a P2P or
UseNet network or, even worse, that they just provide (presumably mostly
broken) web links.

They keep making noise about how "legal" it is but that they have more than
any anybody else.  I don't think they could have possibly licensed all the
music as other music stores.  Also the agreement has a suspicious clause:
"You acknowledge that we have no copyrighted material on our servers."

That latter bit suggests that they have none of this material at all but
rather link to it (perhaps through peer-to-peer) - even a UseNet provider
would have the material on their servers.
