The problem is that he's too centrist. Everyone likes to pretend their
centrist, but there are only about six Senators who really are. By
being centrist, he's not conservative enough for the right and he's
still right of the left. As proven by our strongly two party system,
people here vote on polarizing issues, not subtleties and compromise.

Personally, while I like the guy a lot he lost a lot of my respect
when he defended the war in Iraq by invoking 9/11 with the phrase, "we
were attacked first."
