Then why do anything now?

Why not wait and see what happens?  You might bet the farm on cryo right now
only to find that computer backups of minds become feasible in 20 years
(something I consider much more likely than successful cryo).

I also think it's more likely that some type of stasis technology will be
perfected long before cryo is (if cryo ever can be).  Some technology that
doesn't rely on damaging freezing.

Why bet on anything without knowing the odds?
