My sons pinewood derby was last night. It was our first derby, so I did 99% of the work on the car because he's only six and you know how that goes. There were 23 cars in the race and we almost won the whole thing.
The standings are based on fastest average time for four races per car and Ben's (my son) car finished 0.021 seconds behind the winner.!! The coolest thing about that was the winners car was designed by a GM engineer with input from his other engineer buddies who spun and polished the axles and all kind of other stuff. We did none of that for Ben's car. I just put the axles in the slots with glue and graphited the axles like everyone else. Anyway it was great to see my son get a trophy and he is so proud of the thing.
