I used to see them in '82 & '83 at the punk clubs in Hollywood and LA area. I remember seeing them at Cathy De Grande in Hollywood about that time. I don' remember the other clubs anymore. I can't count the bands I saw back them.
I was in the Marines and would travel to LA or Hollywood 3 or 4 times a week to catch shows. I saw a lot of great shows at little hole in the wall clubs. I think it was in Oceanside that there was a Hot Dog shop that had a counter and about 4 or 5 tables that would host shows Friday and Saturday nights.
