Yeah. It seemed like they sacrificed quite a bit in terms of showing cool magical stuff. I think they blew their CGI budget on a bunch of stuff that had a really limited impact on the movie. The Durmstrang ship and the Beaxbatons carriage were non-essential elements of the story- why even include them?
The bigger issue is what this means for future movies.
