Its an old tactic. used in the Vietnam conflict, probably in the
Philippines, the Indian wars, war of 1812, War of the Roses, Troy etc.

In other words, demonize the opposition as unpatriotic scum who
support the enemy. Aid and comfort the enemy. and so on. Its the sort
of bullshit that gets old very fast.
