I'm more familiar with Red Lake. But it sounds like a great place. I have a fair number of connections with Northwestern Ontario, family and friends - my grandparents lived there and its where my father and his brothers grew up, and my brothers and sisters were born. As far as I'm concerned its one of those special places - dawn over Lake Vermillion or Lake of the Woods is beautiful.
