He is definitely entitled to his opinion. Which I am entitled to ignore.
Anyone who has their mind so made up on such an issue is not worth debating, in my opinion. You aren't going to change their mind, and I don't want to change mine to match his. It is a waste of both our times, and not worth the stomach acid his statements generate. There are many more hardcore passifists in the UK than there are in the US. Both in actual numbers and as a percentage of the population. They are also much more vocal. The local variant has been pretty much cowed into silence over the last few years. (many because they now see some levels of grey in their once black and white logic, some because they are cowards as well as passifists and don't want any confrontation, some because they are smart enough to realize it is not a generally popular opinion in the US at the moment.) If the name was LaShauntaya Johnson, or Scott Katzman or Pete Mzinski or Mohamed Ali, you'd have some ideas about the race/country/religion of the person. If he had said "I love the baby Jesus. Have you been saved? Pass me a beer." Couldn't you guess the country of origin of that person? If he had said "OJ's arrest was a conspiracy to keep the black man down. They don't want a rich black man. Especially not one dating a blonde white woman" Couldn't you guess the country of origin? If he had said "Good'ay mate." you could take a crack at it. It is not too hard to guess, from many opinions they've had, that both Dana and Larry were originally from Canada. Nor that Sam is a Republican. Nor that most of us are geeks.
