2 things here: 1.) Over Christmas I was speaking with my wife's octogenarian grandfather. We were talking about jobs, life, etc. He said, "You know what my father told me before I left the house? He said, 'Frank - you're your own security. No person and no company will give you security but you'". (That guy started a grain business when he was 80 - yup, the great-grandfather!) 2.) Last weekend I heard a great quote from one of the Indian outsourcing firms' CEO. He said, "our job is your job today. Your job is tomorrow." Put it all together and you can see that America's future is directly proportional to its ability to take personal responsibility for ourselves. If we drift into a protectionist mentality we're done. If we embrace globalization, we'll succeed. What this means for the average Joe & Jane is that every few months you'll have to look at your job and extrapolate: where is the trend? Will my job be here in 5 years? 10 years? If not, start preparing for something else. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:192241 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
