Jim,

What do you feel a proper reaction should be to this "blasphemy"?
Do you think killing, shooting, kidnapping, threatening, destroying
property are valid responses?
Do you think this is a "normal" response?
Do you think, overall, it should be a tolerated response?
Do you think most Muslims agree with this response?
Do you think most Muslims should speak out against the violence AT
LEAST as strongly as they speak out against the cartoon?
Do you think most Muslims who don't speak out against the violence are
more likely to be not doing so because they agree with the violence,
or because they fear the violence directed at them? (See the Jordanian
editor for a good example).

I truly don't care about someone's religion. If they treat me
decently, and don't try to force their beliefs onto me (be they
Budhist, Christian, Muslim, Wiccan, whatever), then it has no bearing
on my life.

I live in an apartment building that is probably predominantly Muslim.
Not 100% sure, since I only know about 20 people well enough to know
their religion, but knowing where most were born gives me a good hint.
I live 1/4 mile from a very large mosque, which I have been to about a
dozen times (very good lectures on Islam, great debates with other
religious leaders in Boston.) I respect their beliefs (as I do of
anyone who has a heartfelt and deep religious commitment).

The closest my neighbors have ever come was to changing my behavior
was to ask me not to cook chili while they are fasting during the day
(because the smell travels down the hall and KILLS them. I make good
chili). And that was just ignorance on my part and being a good
neighbor.

But, as Tony says, I do detest the behavior and the violence that is
happening over this incident. It ain't right, it ain't justified, and
it should be railed against as loudly as possible.
