Most universities aren't objecting on basis of the war, but on basis
of the discrimination against gays (which violates many universities
non-discrimination policies of not doing business with any group that
so discriminates).

While I agree with the universities' stance, and don't like at the gut
level the ruling, I have to agree with it.

We need to make sure we recruit our best and brightest to our
military. The alternative (for the whole world) is unthinkable.
