Well, they can't understand it .. if they could, there would be no debate. The questions would be answered. So, The Universe had a begining. What existed before that? Where did the stuff that makes the Universe come from? How did wherever that stuff come from come into existance? If the Universe is expanding, where is it expanding to? Is there something out there that will stop it from expanding eventually, of or is the "space" it is expanding in truely infinate? Why is there a universe at all? Why is there something instead of nothing? If the Universe had a begining, then that meens it suddenly came in to existance from nothing. One of our basic laws of physics tells us this can't happen. So ... No one knows .. no one can even guess because these concepts are so hard to grasp. We know of the concept of infinty, but there isn't anyone on this planet that can truely grasp infinity itself. We live in a quantifyable universe based on the movement of energy from one place to another. Unless we can quantify it, it's really beyond our comprehension, truely. Sure, we can say space is infinate, or God is eternal, but we can't grasp what that really means .. we can't quantify it We can understand "hey, i've been around for 500 trillion billion years", but for something to simply always have existed .. that's just beyond our understanding. OK .. this just devolved into a ramble, but I'm at work and keep getting interrupted, so I'll move along. Basicly, if we understood all of this, we would in fact *be* God :) > You may be scared to try to understand it, afraid of what it may prove or > disprove. You may not care to understand it, you have better things to do. > But never say that man cannot understand things. At some time we will > eventually learn to understand everything. That may be a sad time, or a > happy time, but it could soon come. Not likely. We can't even understand ourselves or each other. How can we understand "God"?
