whose perception? Elitist and liberal are wedge words, just like neo-con. They're used to set up an "us" versus "them"
My personal favorties are "liberal elites" and "intelligensia." In recent times (the last century alone) being labelled and elite or part of the intelligencia could get you killed. And that is what makes me so fucking angry about this type of thing. But let me ask you, 'cause you made the statement: are people that may be conciously helping the environment, fair trade/compensation practices, and eating what they percieve to be better food choices elitist? Or is it just the one's that do it for pretense and because it is cool or hip? Or does it have to do with one's agenda, for or against? What about people that drive fuel efficient Corollas 'cause that's what they can afford, buy locally farmed organic produce whenever possible because it helps one to eat healthy and it helps the local farmers to eat local, and drink coffee brewed at home made from beans purchased from a local coffee company that's been a part of the community for over a hundred years? also elitist? or only elitist if it serves and agenda?
