There are a couple of differences. It is the same CCD same resolution.
The D100 had a steel frame, so it is a little heavier but more durable.

The D70 doesn't have the grip/battery add-on available, which basically
adds a few features that aren't available on the D70. It lets you use
two batteries or 6AA batteries to operate the camera. It has a vertical
shutter button so you don't have to turn you arm weird to take a
portrait picture.

It also has a microphone to take voice notes, and remote shutter port.

I used the D100 for a couple of years shooting weddings and portraits
and it did great work. I now have a D200 and a D2x.
