Yeah - I've had to do that several times already too, but this time I
didn't have restore points going back far enough. ChestyP got me in
touch with Microsoft Support for the problem, but after spending 4
hours on the phone with them, I gave up and am reinstalling from
scratch.

Against my better judgment I am going to reinstall Vista and not XP.
I really *want* Vista to work, but so far I've had to do one "repair"
from install media, and now I am having to reinstall the whole
shebang.

In Microsoft's defense, this wireless problem began when I installed a
Verizon Broadband card and it's accompanying software, VZAccess.
However, even after uninstalling the VZAccess, the problem remained
and no Windows Utility known to man was able to undo the damage. I'm
going to install that VZAccess software *first* this time and see if
the same thing happens.
