Yeah - that's what happens when for years and years somebody's told they can do no wrong. They become self-indulgent, arrogant and lose touch with the people they're trying to impress. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall of that production meeting... "We're going to end it how? Really?" Watching all the yes-men fawn, "Genius!", "A classic!" It sucked. Either they knew what they doing and they wanted it to suck (in which case, screw them) or they thought they were being clever and weren't (in which case, screw them). The only reasonable idea I could come up with is that they wanted to leave things open to option a movie... but after this kind of treatment I wouldn't go see it anyway. Incredibly disappointing. Nonsensical doesn't even begin to cover it.
