According to my wife, who lived in Raleigh for five years, Carrowinds is iffy.. You're better off at Busch Gardens or Kings Dominion.

I mean, I'm spoiled by Cedar Point (grew up about 2 hours from that amazing park), but here in Raleigh my only real options are Carowinds, Kings Dominion (north of Richmond), and Busch Gardens (Williamsburg).
