Personally I sold out a long time ago and I'm comfortable with that,
although I can see how some wouldn't be.

Automotive manufacturers, for example, can deny you warranty work if
they see you post online that you tracked your car.  Now, of course
you could hire lawyers and defend yourself under the Magnuson-Moss
Warranty Act but that would be quite expensive while an internet alias
is free.
