Thanks.... I am still majorly in shock because it happened so fast (about 3 hours from the time I noticed he was having a problem to when he was put to sleep to hasten what was happening). I totally was not prepared for it, but I console myself with the thought that he didn't suffer, and that the decision was a pretty clear-cut one to make. Many times, particularly with older dogs, it is so much harder to decide when the right time to let them go is. In a way, he saved me from having to make that decision.
