Yeah, but the price of gas is a not a consideration in this equation. It's a free-floating lifestyle versus landlocked. It's a community of like minded people versus never saying hello to your neighbors. So far, 3 different places, despite attempts to make friends, have all had terrible neighbors. This doesn't happen in the boating community).
Compare you and Deanna: you REALLY REALLY enjoy living in a city center, and Deanna doesn't. She'd rather have a house out further and do the commute, whether small or big. We'd rather live on the water. It's good for our health. I would of been happy with a Lake boat, Charles prefers the coast. He's ready for retirement but wants to be able to see places. Yeah, obviously finances need to support the gas, but that's the not the number one consideration. Living aboard a boat can be done very economically if you really dig into your options.
