"These days"?

17 year-olds wanting to have sex has always been normal. Historically it's
actually pretty late - for most of our existence it would be odd for
somebody to "wait" until they were 17.

But even in modern times: every generation has dealt with the problem. Some
handled it better than us, some worse and some just hid it better... but the
drive has always been there. But every generation has longed for "the good
old days" when there wasn't such a rush.

We're pushing around biological imperatives with social constructs... let's
see which wins. ;^)

I agree that our generation tends to be more open about it. Kids in the
50's may have wanted it just as much... but they didn't have Internet porn
making it look like a competition. They didn't have teeny-bopper divas
telling them "sex isn't cool" while grinding their asses at the camera.

But still... they WANTED IT.

(Or then again maybe I'm just jaded since my great grandmother had my
grandmother when she was 15...)
