I kind of alluded to this earlier. Maybe it exists. My republican buddy said some similar type stuff went down, but I the only thing I could dig up (in 3 seconds of googling) was something about Rush's riot "dream". Real stellar dude, that guy. Entertaining is an understatement. Oh, and this: http://alibi.com/index.php?story=24412&scn=blog&fullstory=y Hmm... looks like they at least might have waited for something to happen, and instead of violating people's rights to be prepared, were just plain prepared. Crazy what fear will do, I guess. Better be "safe" tho, and never even give fools the chance. That's sorta what the "first strike" hoopla is about, ain't it? Sorta? > As for the anarchists, we've seen what those 'people' can and have done in > the past. Riot prevention is the least the city can do. > "If a dog bites you, then bites you again, and then again, you should expect > him to do so in the future and prepare for it." > Yes, I'm calling the anarchists dogs. They're not doing anything to help > society, just burn it down. And while giving them the benefit of the doubt > might be a nice thing, being ready "just in case" is not wrong. "These people" aren't all fucking anarchists, man. Did you see that sheriff? Hear what he was saying? Do you think his idea of an anarchist is the same as yours? Interesting how the Repubs (in general) don't seem to really be busting crazy riots tho... protesting and whatnot... sure, try to take the 10 commandments out of a court, and it's bedlam... maybe when it's people more like yourself in the streets, trying to be up in arms, the story will change, and definitions will be more important. See, that's the damn danger to getting all crazy on "terrorists" and whatnot, and defining rights as belonging to "citizens" and whathaveyou. Sure, there's the logistical aspect, which I don't deny, but the SPIRIT, man, the FUCKING SPIRIT... what's happened to us? And the *real safety*? Where is it going? I guess your idea of being ready and "just in case" ain't the same as mine. I'll give my kid chances to fuck up, you know? As much as it pains me, and seems *almost* counter-intuitive, like allowing hate speech. I will of course share the possible consequences prior, when possible. Probably through parable, or perhaps stories from my own experience... "But, but but... it's BAD, letting people fuck up!". WHY don't people get the IT IS WORSE IF YOU DO NOT GIVE THEM THE CHANCE part? Freedom... crazy idea, all willy-nilly... Live and learn, I guess. Maybe I'm way off base, and things really are fine, just fine. I gotta be at least partially off base, due to the very nature of reality, and reliance on sensation or whathaveyou. That much I know. (which is ironic, right?) Have I mentioned that I love irony. Just lucky that way. ;] Again, not directed at you, Michael, but something in the memes you mention set me up^H^H off. :-) Enough ranting tho, and I really don't mean anything bad, and I'll try to start using social engineering more, instead of the "frontal attacks" (flashy, not very productive in this kind of war :]), in the future. -- There is no such thing as a 'self-made' man.
