Afghanistan = war zone.

war zone != laws as normal

I have no problem with keeping prisoners in a war zone using long-held
prisoner of war rules, including rights to medical but not legal,
until the end of the war in that war zone.

The problem _I_ had with Guantanamo is that it was a "throw em all in
the same pot" plan, with no distinguishing between where they were
captured, what they were doing, and no possible resolution, since it
wasn't in a war zone, so the "war" could never end.
