Playing devil's advocate... She came here illegally to escape poverty and reach out for the American Dream. Marrying a man who is sacrificing his life for the country. The spouses of veterans have long been known for their "sacrifices" for the country because they are the ones that have to stay behind and wait for their loved ones.
So theortically, although her life is not on the line, her personal sacrifice is still great.
