When I still worked in EMS (been about 6 years now) 25 weeks was the
'cut off' - anything before 25 weeks and the mortality rate goes way
up. Oddly enough, I remember when I was in training 20 years ago and
being told that 30 weeks was the 'cut off'. Just goes to show the
advancements that have been made.

One of my most rewarding calls was for a woman who gave birth in the
back of an ambulance at 24 weeks gestation.  At that time, babies born
that premature, especially outside the hospital, rarely survived.  Not
only did the baby make it, but last I heard (going back a quite a few
years) he was starting high school (probably in college by now). His
middle name is actually Scott because I delivered him.

So, while its no ideal for her to be born that early, she seems to be
doing well.
