It's what you say to someone who supports Israel to delegitimize them in arguments. "Of course you're arguing for Israel, you're a zionist". It's used by people in a way that people use nigger, kike, whop, chink. Doesn't matter what it used to mean but how it is used.
I can't say anything good about Israel or defend it because I'm a zionist. It removes any of my credibility.
