I used to be in favor of term limits but as I thought about it more, I realized that idiots are just idiots. Michele Bachmann is one of the craziest people in Congress (and that's saying a lot) and she's only been there since 2007. Term limits don't eliminate crazy, pandering or power hungry, they just shuffle the pieces on the board. All term limits do is get rid of those few people who actually might be reasonable and who have learned to get things done in a fairly dysfunctional place. I *really* think we need election reform but I'm not convinced that term limits is the right way to do it. I've been, by and large, impressed with Pelosi since the 2008 election. She's done a much better job of getting things done in the House than I thought she would. Reid on the other had, well, blech. I'd be happy to see him go and he really ought to be easily defeated. Fortunately for him, the Tea Party managed to get in the one candidate that seems to have lower favorability ratings than Reid does, which is really amazing. I hope that if he does manage to squeak to another win that he'll be ousted as Senate Majority Leader by another Democrat who has more actual leadership. Guess we'll see.
