"Most citizens don't care, either way."

They care after the fact. Kind of like Arthur Dent. All he had to do was
go to the galactic planning system and lodge a complaint. But did he? No.
He waited for the Vogons to show up before he started bitching.

"Yes. Of course, we probably never would have become the superpower that we
are without it."

Would it be a bad thing if we weren't a super power. If we minded our own
business.

"Also interesting would be a vote on the marriage amendment deal."

A losing proposition. Not an issue either side can win on. Stay the hell
out of it. The best answer is: Let the state's decide.

The gay tea parties guys I posted a few weeks back had an interesting take.
They said government should recognize any marriages and only recognize civil
unions, whether they be between opposite sex or same sex.

"Perhaps. There is a certain mindset that is more susceptible to falling
into the 'they're keeping us safe' deal."

The Democratic ideal is more government to protect the people. With more
bureaucracy comes more restrictions. A loss of freedom.

The Republican theoretically want less government. By default, this means
fewer people in charge, but less restrictions since there is less
government.

I say in theory because they sure as hell haven't governed this way.

Some people argue that the two parties are just branches of the same party.
If so, it would be called the corruptacrats.

"Sorry, I'm getting silly, aren't I?"

As Seal would say, we're not going to survive unless we get a little crazy.
