Everyone on this list knows my opinion on this matter. In part here's why.
As you may not know same sex marriage is legal across Canada. About 3 years ago my cousin finally married his significant other with whom he had been with for quite a while. It was a very beautiful marriage ceremony on a promontory where the Frazier River flows into the Pacific in Vancouver, BC Canada. They were at the least very happy. The marriage simply formalized something that was already in existence, but as far as they were concerned it was something more. Last June my cousin had a massive heart attack. His husband made the final decision to withdraw life support when there was no hope. In most places in the US Tony could not have legally made that decision - as far as US law is concerned Tony was not legally related to Don. He would not have been able to see him, or make any decisions regarding Don. What I do know is that those last 3 years of Don's life were probably the happiest of his life. Who are we to deny someone that opportunity for happiness. How does the happiness of these two people, who were hurting no one else, harm others. I find it very hypocritical that those on the right keep having temper tantrums about the government interference. Yet the exact same individuals never seem have a problem with wanting government to regulate people's private lives in terms of marriage etc..
