That's not my understanding of what Intelligent Design was meant to be.

It is the religious extremist view of Intelligent Design, and more
specifically the Christian/catholic view.

But what Intelligent Design is, without muddying the water with religious
references, is that a Sentience created our Solar System, our observable
Universe and by extension us.

It discounts the notion of pure chance and chaos, in so far as any chance
was itself created by this Sentience and serves an intelligent purpose.

This Sentience does not need to be a single entity, it could be a
distributed conciousness through everything.

It is, in essence, a universal architect.

Intelligent Design when viewed from that perspective does not oppose science
in any way, nor does it oppose evolution.
It simply says that there is some sort of Sentience and Logical Intent to
the universe.
