I think it depends on the model. I had a Lenovo t60p that was maxed out and that was better than most of the desktops I had used up to that time. I never had any probs with that. I don't remember if I used the sleep function or not though, so I really can't comment on that.

ThinkPads have been the go-to machine for years for my department here. The past two years have really seen a decline in performance, quality, and are just a general headache.
