I think politics have always been bitter.  I remember the nastiness of
the elections in 68 and the scandals of 72 election.   Nothing
happening today that matches the riots at the 68 conventions, the
shootings of Bobby Kennedy, George Wallace and Martin Luther King and
or the scandals surrounding Watergate.

Andrew Jackson's wife Rachel was hounding so badly that she killed herself.
