"MORGANTOWN, W.Va. He didn't seek the spotlight, but when Frank Buckles outlived every other American who'd served in World War I, he became what his biographer called "the humble patriot" and final torchbearer for the memory of that fading conflict." ... My favorite comment from small percentage of the 2200+ that I read. "What a life Frank Buckles lived! Born before powered flight, a youth in a time when automobiles were scare and the Great influenza epidemic almost wiped out humanity on the heels of the worst war in history up to that time... all of this before he was 20 years old! Then the Great Depression, WWII, The Cold War and the 1950s... Ike, JFK, LBJ, King, 1960s... another whole lifetime of experiences. By 1970, intercontinental jet travel was common and men had landed on the moon. His life was only a little more than 2/3rds done. Amazing. RIP, Mr. Buckles." Another comment had the interesting insight that this man lived for nearly one half the time we have been the United States of America ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:335412 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
