I was always annoyed that Monster was written PURELY so they would have an album to tour with. Now, i'm eternally grateful that they DID tour, otherwise I might not have ever seen them (missed the Green tour)...as Stipe's stage fright was pretty severe there for awhile.
I remember Stipe saying that they needed an album that was more "tour" friendly. (Ugh). I would have been perfectly fine going to a concert that featured tunes purely from Automatic, Out of time, Document, Pagaent, Reconstruction, Reckoning, etc. (They did play So.
