Big picture time. Ron Paul is not a racist, but racist material came
out under his watch, under his name. He says he didn't write it and I
believe him, but he hadn't the managerial oversight to make sure
others weren't publishing heinous material under his aegis.  Ron Paul
supporters would say that he shouldn't be held accountable, meaning by
transference that if he was elected President and his underlings did
something equally heinous, he shouldn't be held accountable then
either.  Wrong. He has shown through this event to be an inadequate
manager. Despite what you think about Barack Obama, he is at the very
least adequate. Ron Paul allowed materials from underlings out with
implicit okay. That material was bad.
