Really, it was just the first quote that popped into my head, nothing
GWB specific. Politicians pander. And they pander to whomever they are
courting at the time. Their actions speak much differently a lot of
the time though.

Ron Paul spent years courting a John Birch-lovin', Libertarian "guns
and new world order" crowd. It isn't just racism, he had mailers out
about the government tracking you with the new $100 bills. Jews,
Central Banks, etc. Pretty standard stuff.

Since then he's had enough time in Congress to make slightly more
"mainstream" friends. He still wants to abolish the Fed and isn't
opposed to talking up the Gold Standard as sop to his roots. That's
fine and all, but recognize it for what it really is.

Is Ron Paul personally racist? I don't know. I do know that he is
craven and, as politicians tend to do, panders to his base. His base
was, at one time, racist, xenophobic and violent. His base has
expanded somewhat since then and he has disavowed some of the ideals
put out in his name by his base. Doesn't change where he came from
though and you'd do best to remember that.

Cheers,
Juda
