So,

if I am reading this correctly, Bain invested money in a company that was
already planning to move into an overseas market. That is, Bain did not
direct the move, but the company was already planning to expand its market.
These two lines "An arm of Bain Capital invested $4 million in a software
company that
intended to expand its operations in China " and "Bain Capital Ventures
directed the multimillion-dollar investment to E5 Systems Inc., an information
technology startup that was looking overseas for opportunities to grow." seems
to imply this anyway.

If this is the case, is there something wrong with that?
