You're right, the problems with Islam we face are far more insidious. Previously we fought nations, far easier to identify the enemy, fix and destroy it's manufacturing and defense and crush it's will.
This is why civilians shouldn't take part after the decision to make war is made. As far as I'm concerned once the civilian command authority decides to go to war they should step aside and let those that have the stomach for it do what needs to be done.
