Look, the president has defense and intelligence aids that travel with him every where he goes. As soon as the attack started and the word came back (it raged for over 6 hours) the president was notified. At that point they had people on the ground sending back information and a drone in the air sending back video. Any military analyst knew just what the hell they were looking at. Fire and maneuver, indirect fires. Multiple locations attacked at the same time with a mile or more between them.
