I feel for the loss of your Ellie, it's a crappy situation.

My Ellie is definitely an interesting intellectual/emotional creature, no
doubt. I'd also say that there is a lot of development that will happen
with Ben over the next year. The difference between 4, almost 5 and 5,
almost 6 can be pretty substantial.

Ellie was up for 2 hours in the middle of the night today suffering from
existential angst. It was really, really bothering her that she had no idea
what her brain was thinking about while she was sleeping and she really was
resolved to not go back to sleep because she wanted to make sure that she
knew what her brain was up to. Not your average just turned 7 year old,
agreed, but every kid has their own challenges and you have to figure out
how to best engage your kids in a way that works for them. Quite the task
and it's ever-changing.
