Yes...there are local issues in some areas with that.  It's not as
widespread as fox would have people believe.  The VA does have issues, most
of it is there are too many people for the system to handle. Much like
Benghazi and other issues the right likes to scream about, it's more smoke
that actual substance to the screaming.   1 VAMC covers a pretty large
territory.  Not all VAMC's are horrible...many work just fine.  I just
talked to my doc a couple of weeks ago and we set up an apt for the 27th of
this month.  The senate just passed a bill (with 3 republicans voting
against it) that would give vets who either have to deal with long wait
times to get appointments, or live more than 40 miles out from a VAMC, the
ability to use local docs and hospitals via a Medicare like system.  I think
that is a good idea as it would not only reduce the strain on the VAMC's but
also make it easier for veterans to get to appointments and get he proper
care that they need.
